This is a $14k car in Italy. Why so much for this one?

What will it cost to fly over, rent a car, stay in hotels, inspect at a mechanic, truck to a port, ship to the US, pay duties, replace the wheels, do some mechanical and paint, and title?

88 was the first year of the facelift.

First iS I have seen without the M-Tech kit on it, even though it was an option on the 4-door every one I have seen had one fitted, and it's on 14" Bottle top alloys not the 15" Weaves that I thought were standard. Interesting...

California still enforces emissions standards on cars that are 25+ years old? The hell?

                Yes unfortunately.

From CA DMV: Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is:
                • Gasoline powered 1975 year model or older
                • Diesel powered 1997 year model and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs
                • Electric
                • Natural gas powered with a GVWR rating of more than 14,000 lbs.

I have always believed these cars were E30 m3s under the skin,,, this is obviously a 4 lug car, so does anyone know for certain if they had M3 struts, hubs, brakes or 325 parts?

The reason I don't have an R32 GT-R in the driveway in all its boxy-fendered glory.

They came with 4-lug suspension, brakes, hubs, etc.
IIRC Jake Larsen upgraded his 320iS coupe to M3 suspension for that exact reason.

Spray paint and tire shine doesn't equate to a "restoration!"

I thought you sold this car over a year and a half ago with 66K miles on it? Did you buy it back and lowered the price by 10K?

I'll be damned. Learn something new every day. I always thought they were more "M3" than just the engine.
                          Kinda let down...

Those are 2 different cars - the one from last year had an Mtechnic 2 body kit, sport seats, basketweave wheels, etc.
