  • Any interestin a damaged m3 in Boston area please contact me

    Basic facts:

    1. Car sustained damage to the left fender, left door, left quarter panel, right quarter panel, rear suspension. Front suspension is likely damaged. Little damage on the trunk.
    2. Insurance co in process of evaluating. If deemed as a total loss I will have very little time to decide on the buyback and the car will need to be picked up ASAP. It is not movable because of the broken rear suspension and broken rear wheels so a flat bed with a pull (or other creative means) will be necessary.

I cannot arrange shipping. Contact me for pics if interested.

Hi all, there seems to be a lot of interest. I am not responding to the PMs just because I have nothing of substance to say just yet. I will update this thread with detailed pictures when they are available and we'll go from there.

Definitely want some pics. Any idea what you/the insurance is asking for it? Do you have any before pics/details?

Sorry to hear about this. I almost purchased this car from the previous owner when it was in Indiana but passed on it for my own reasons (a large one being I already have a white one with gray interior).....not because it was not a nice car. It had around 55,0000 miles in 2004-2005 if I remember correctly and was a nice example.

Hi all, the insurance co is still figuring out the buy back value however they are at this point convinced that the car is a total loss. In addition I clawed back the car and it is at my parent's driveway and therefore I am able to take detailed pics.

Let's start with before pictures and info. Prior to the accident my car was mechanically PERFECT. There was not one thing that I need to fix. Approximately 1 hour before the accident I had replaced the alternator with a new rebuilt unit and that was the last item that needed attention (thanks to my DIY indash voltmeter I caught the alternator failure before it had any adverse effect on the car).

Below is the link to the 12 year maintenance log. I consider myself nearly fanatical when it comes to keeping this car in the right shape. Every spring the car was started up by pulling the plugs and running the starter without fuel supply to build up oil pressure.

                Here's the log file:

                https://s3.amazonaws.com/noro-public...ce_1991-M3.xls

The car (for the time being) has a clear title (which will get re-titled to salvage) and has a clear car fax so there were no prior stories that I am aware of. The engine has 84K miles and runs great. It does still run after the accident.

Here are pictures taken few weeks before the accident. The last one was taken an hour before... if I only knew what's about to follow..

                Underbody ... ZERO rust.

Hood. right front fender and passenger door appear to be intact, gaps look good, the door opens closes fine with no odd misalignment against the roofline. Window works.

1st stage of the imact.. T-bone right into me. Since I was in motion it got the front fender, looks like the strut was pushed in because the left front has more camber than the right front (I always wanted more camber, guess my wish came true). Following into the quarter and the damaged wheel. The wheel appears to point in the right direction but not sure.

The rear is intact, but the bumper is busted.

Stage 2, car meets light pole, suspension clearly badly damaged, I see no kinks on the C pilar, just a direct impact damage at the very bottom. Fuel tank remains pressurized.

The towing joint taped up the passenger window but it does indeed work and I was able to raise it up.

The little discoloration on the black trim is the leftover resedue from the tape to hold the plastic ... The nice crack on the windshield is where the glass and my head had a little powwow..
