  • 1 owner 1988 m3

the time has come to list my 1 owner 1988 m3. i have owned this car for 1 year but have not registered so its still a 1 owner. car has 166k, clean car fax and clean original title in hand. the cluster was replaced in 2010 so the millage on the speedometer is plus the original millage (all dealer documentation included). have nearly every service record from day 1 including all original sale documents and owners manuals. it was purchased and maintained at the dealership i work for from day one. car was owned by an older gentleman and maintained meticulously. runs and drives very well with no issues or known problems. the exterior was repainted in 2010 professionally and shows very well with just a few small blemishes. the interior is as well in very nice shape, the seats have been reconditioned, all electronics work as they should. all original panels with vin stamps as documents in the photos. this car has never been modified, raced or abused since day one. all original oem parts have been used and the service and maintenance history is impeccable. if the car ever needed anything it was done at my dealership without question. the original owner did drive the car year round for the first few years. there was a small amount of corrosion around the front drivers and passenger kick panels as well as behind both rear wheel wells (battery box area. this was all cut out and replaced over this past winter, welded seam sealed and sanded by a reputable shop with extensive knowledge of older bmw's. i will include a link to 79 photos of the car. i will also include links to videos of the car and its condition. i want to best represent this vehicle and give the next buyer a peace of mind to purchase from a distance. i will also have pictures and a video of the underside posted tomorrow when i am able to get it on a lift.

as i said before i work for a BMW store so the car has been in good hands since my ownership, things i would consider taking care of going forward would be refinishing the factory wheels, it does weep a little bit of oil like all cars 30 years ago. the rear diff seals could use to be replaced as they weep a little as well. the interior is in very very good original condition but i would consider a strong detail, the carpet mostly. most people will ask why sell, we are in the process of moving and our new home does not have a garage yet (see listing sign in front yard of pictures). it will be some time before i can build one and it will be quite expensive. i also really just do not drive my "fun" cars and this is no car that should be sitting in a garage. its the perfect drivers car that honestly shows like a low millage car with an incredible history. still some things that need to be addressed so its a nice project for the next owner.

i can assist with transportation at your own expense but i have a company i work with that will give me a reasonable rate. i prefer text or email at this point as life is crazy with work and moving. my cell is 585-752-4101 and email is nrdemarco23@yahoo.com . please no private messages as i am not on here often. this is a bit of a sad sale for me as i absolutely love this car but now is just not the time for me to own it. asking price is a more then fair $37,500, i am pretty firm at this price but contact me for details.

Looks like a nice car. I would reshoot the walk around video in horizontal mode. The videos you uploaded to youtube are also low-resolution (240p).

The odo gears might have broken and the idiot SA decided to gouge the customer for an entire cluster instead of replacing the original gears. The mileage is surprisingly simple to adjust, so you could wind the odo to the proper mileage (will take a while) so you don't have Carfax/Autocheck INCONSISTENT MILEAGE REPORTED warnings when the vehicle is next registered. You aren't doing anything dishonest and it will help prevent a stain on the car's service history some nitpicky freak might worry could damage the car's value. Of course you will want to disclose that the mileage was adjusted to reflect the correct interval when the car changes hands in the future.

Other than that, it looks good and is reasonably priced. Good luck!

just had my master tech go through the car mechanically. he spent 6 weeks addressing some of the minor issues. seals and gaskets, new gas tank and a bunch of other small things. over 2k in employee cost oem parts plus the labor. i was planning on keeping the car but found out shortly after he started i am going to be a first time father in march. i also update my flickr account with more photos of the underside. i will probably throw it back on ebay for some additional exposure tonight. any questions please shoot me a text at 585-752-4101

How did a dealer end up with it less than a month later?

Dealer bought it from the auction and posted it before they even paid or took delivery. Up until this week they didn't even had their own pictures up.

I texted OP to see if they had actually bought it to make sure they weren't just ripping off his pictures and he confirmed that dealer had indeed purchased the car.
