I've put my car up for sale on Craigslist in Memphis if anyone is interested. Here is a link to the ad. I'll take $500 off the price if you are an S14 forum member. Just tell me so. Thanks.

Hey Jack, say it ain't so!!! Sorry to see you sell it so soon. For anyone interested, FYI, I was interested in this car during my search in '08 but by the time I called the seller in FL it was already on its way to TN! :-) Looked to be a clean example then....after Jack has owned it I'm sure it's even nicer!

    GLWS,

Thanks, John. It's a tough decision and you can tell by the price, I'm not overly anxious to move her. However, I need something that I can run through the streets of Memphis and not feel bad if she gets a ding or nick here and there. This one is way too clean for the rough and tumble streets of Memphis - even just on the weekend jaunts.

i paid $16K for her when I bought her in 2008. I've since put another $8K in upgrades/replacements on the car. She runs like she is on rails.

Geez... here's another well sorted DS for sale.

Too bad you couldn't just buy a beater and keep this one.

Thanks for all the advice and well wishes. I bought my first M3 in 1988 - a AW/Cardinal combination. It's one of two cars that I have regretted selling over my life - the other being a 1935 Citroen Traction Avant which I still sorely miss. So, probably a mistake here as well.

But, for those interested, I've got 50 photos posted in my MobileMe account. Here's a link to the gallery: http://gallery.me.com/luftwaffefeld/100023

Here is a service history that I put together from the records that I have. It doesn't include the purchase of parts that were either installed by the owners or for which no installation receipt was found. Sorry for the formatting, but I can send an Excel version to anyone that would like to see it.

Here's a prime example of why cars like these are usually "not" good investments! LOL! This one is obviously worth waaaaay more than the asking price!

It won't last for long in the For Sale forum! :-)

Haha, the one that got away! I was in discussions with the PO regarding a PPI and the next day I talked to him he said someone was flying in to buy it. If I recall properly the car had been fully restored by an elderly gentleman who barely drove it during the several years he owned it. It sounded like a great deal then and still does now, but you should really get a beater and thank yourself later...

                          Cheers,

James, that was you. I was wondering if it might have been. You are right. The car was bought in September of 2006 by an elderly gentleman that never drove it. He bought it from a shallow pocketed college student that needed something less glamorous (i.e., cheaper to maintain). The elderly gentleman did nothing but have it worked on and restored. At the time, he also had 2 190E 16 valve cars. Once he finished, he sold it to the guy that I bought it from. He never drove it either! He had an "internet" shop selling Monster cables with a warehouse that he had it and a 2002 that he was restoring in. He simply sat around during the day, pampering the two cars. I'm lucky that he didn't wax the paint off the car. I flew in, bought the car and drove it 800 miles back from Orlando to Memphis.

I've got my eye on a Tiptronic equipped 2002 Boxster with only 45K on it. With a quick sale, I may be able to beat it to the auctioneer. So, I'll shed a tear for the M3, but will replace it with something alot more road friendly for stop and go traffic.

                              Jack,

You could always buy a Mini-Cooper S for the daily "grind" (buy an older one for cheap), and keep the M3! Just a thought....Boxters are cool, but I'm not big on drop tops...I prefer coupes. An Audi TT maybe? Modern cars can be had for cheap compared to a "classic" M3! I predict seller's "remorse" will set in quickly if you sell the M3. :nope:
