I’m looking for a set of Red spark plug wires For my e30 m3. Anyone know where I can get a set?

  • #2
I would try Magnecore or Nology. I think they both used Red wire stock for their S14 sets.

You used to be able to get pretty much any color wires from Kingsborne, but the last time I suggested them the poster returned and said they were having trouble getting the correct Beru spark plug ends.
Might be worth checking back in with them as well.

Unless you are taking about red Sport Evo ends not red "wires", the red ends seem to be tough to get these days. I had a few sets made by Kingsborne with red ends but that was a while back.

The problem there will probably be that I think the only S14 ends that were "ever" made in red were the real Beru ends, and what it seems to be is the Beru ones (black or red) are NLA.

Search Al Hafner Tuning. He owned BMP design in Tyler Texas.

He still carries the correct spec red Evo plug wires. I think you can only order via his ebay store. Cheers.

Are you restoring a real EVO car and need the red boots? If not, and from a performance perspective, I'd get those spark plug wires out of the OEM wire loom and go with Magnecor KV85. You'll need to find one of Gustave Stroes' wire looms, but finding one of those will be easier than finding the OEM red boots.

The Magnecor part number for the KV85 wires is 45260.

Unless there is some reason like going for a concourse restoration I have been telling everyone who will listen for ~20 years to get your spark plug wire OUT of the plastic torture chamber and use simple wire separators. Those plastic things are brutal on wires.

OK - Let's get this color thing straight. There was only one color of ignition wire fitted to the M3 - it was black. There were two colors of spark plug boots fitted to the M3; black for all models except for the M3 Sport Evolution. This model received red plug boots.

The spark plug wire sans connectors is black and is available. Part number is 12121705675. You buy this, cut it to fit and install the connectors and boots.

                              The red boot is NLA.

The full plug wire set including the plastic shroud (case), black spark plug boots and black distributor and coil connectors is not available from BMW as an OEM part any more that I am aware of, however aftermarket suppliers (STI - Karlyn) make one.

There was never any red ignition wires fitted to the M3 from the factory. Below is a picture of a factory correct Sport Evo. Note the ignition wire color and the plug boot color.
