I used this kit one time to replace the wheel bearings on my E30. No missing or damaged parts. It fits several different BMW models. See details here:

I've got this exact kit and it's a breeze to use. One thing that I did add to the kit is a small length of copper tubing to shield the splines in the hub from the threaded rod if you accidentally get knocked out of alignment.

Yes, it makes changing the bearings pretty much a non event. I can't imagine doing them without it.

slightly off topic but can the front bearings be replaced with this tool? I've only seen the whole hub assembly with the bearing unlike the rear.

If I recall, you can pull the front hub/bearing with a standard 2 or 3 jaw puller.
