  • Bay Area Meet - 2/20/16

Here are my photos from the meetup yesterday morning in Emeryville. We pulled E30M3 owners from our Facebook group, S14.net, and even by some good old fashioned email. It was great to get 13 cars in attendance (plus a couple bonus Merc 2.3-16s) and meet everyone!

Here's the relevant thread from the Events subforum:

    Here's our Facebook group:

If you were there and you'd like to post your photos, please feel free to reply to this thread!

I am really diggin this thread... With Social media - IG/Facebook, you rarely see a good meet and pic post. I love the variety of cars..

The "DTM" alpine with the BBS Magnesiums is so nice:

But i really appreciate this alpine white as well:

It put a smile on my face knowing that this car has been "driven" =)

About that binder clip on the hood though..

        Thanks for sharing Konig !!

Thanks Andy! Yes, as you can see I did not have an elegant solution for banner mounting haha. My paint isn't great so it didn't bother me, but I will come up with something a bit more robust for next time.

And with regard to posting here versus social media... I hear you. It took a fraction of the time and effort to post this album to Facebook - I uploaded the photos straight from my hard drive, wrote captions and shuffled photos around, and had it posted to our group within a few minutes. To post it here, I uploaded the photos again to Flickr, then copy-pasted every IMG embed link, had a really hard time getting the photos in the right order, and haven't yet tried for captions. Took about an hour and two attempts to get it right... also had to break the post into 20-photo chunks.

(Nearly) everyone uses Facebook and saw the photos immediately and was able to like or comment; when I post here, I don't know if people are seeing it if they don't post a reply. On the flip side, Facebook is a bit of a cluster with 5000000 E30 M3 enthusiast pages with relentless cross-posting and low-quality comments... In any case, this is a discussion that has been had and will be had again.

+1 So many show cars, not enough driven cars.
Dont get me wrong, I love them both.

Any way, Great Post! wish I could have made the drive to join you guys.

There were at least two daily driven cars, they were both DS.

            Pall,

I'm sad I fell ill and couldn't attend this meet. My Smoked Silver Cosworth would have looked great next to the Ms.

Glad we woke up early and made the trip from Sacramento. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one. Speaking of...there IS a Eurosunday event this Sunday in Sacramento. I know at least a couple M3s should be attending.

What an awesome turnout! I'm so bummed that I'm no longer in the area to join. Congrats to all the lucky Bay Area E30 M3 owners for getting together. Always great to match the pics and usernames to people. Mass props to Pall for organizing and sharing all the pics.
