88 M3 revival

been a while since update...busy with S14/trans work on my M2...
the GC sport camber plates are a nice piece of kit...


also acquired some stiffer sway bars from another S14 member. I was reluctant to go with big bars due to the need to weld in reinforcements, so went with this set of Eibachs which are only 1mm bigger than stock.

and was surprised by how long the fuel tank took to recover from fast RH sweeper when below 1/3 full. gauge went to full empty for 5 min. hmm. wondered if the transfer pipe on bottom of tank was clogged preventing fuel from flowing back to pick up. drained tank using the very handy drain plug.



then removed the pipe, cleaned inside and out and replaced. it did not appear to be clogged.



car now stored until spring....gotta get the M2 back together before track event in March!!

Time for an annual up date.
Car attended its required "at least one track day a year" event today. SCCA HPDE on Summit Point Shenny circuit.



two milestones.

First, it rolled over 41k original miles while on track doing what the BMW M engineers intended these cars to do...drive fast. absolute hoot as usual. I have said it before, but if you are not driving your M3 on track regularly, you are completely missing the essence of what these cars are...

second was first time I have driven this car in the rain. of course it was on track. light rain, damp track. wipers worked! yee ha! super fun. everyone else was going slow for some reason....

2023 update.. sadly for the E30, my E36 M3 racing has dominated my time and the E30 has sat on this lift covered for the last year with only two days of exercise. drives me nuts that I have not been able to use it as I planned! eeeekkk! contemplating starting a for sale thread....

Your M3 looks really good and an example of your skills, lucky I have seen a garage full of other items I could identify for your for sale list none being Red in colour.
