S14motorsport has a write-up on upgrading the seats. Some M3's came with rear headrests, at least I thought they did?

Alec it was'nt "wrecked" as such,it was just was some panel damage when on the track I hit a tyre wall. The boys saved the panels after a bit of dressing out.

The rear headrests have me stumped as well.In the '70's we had a car called the Ford Escort RS2000 which had front headrests just like these. The opening in the rear seats I think was there for some sort of sub,but I'm only guessing, not really sure.I thought at first it might be a ski hatch.

There is NO mileage limitation. The only mileage limitation is if the car is brought into the country under a category known as SHOW & DISPLAY. The only BMW to qualify for this is a Z1 because of its historical significance; another car would be the Porsche 959. The mileage limitation on these cars is 2500 miles a year.

Besides the expense of bringing in a E30 M3, I will reiterate, there is no mileage limitation. It's just EXPENSIVE to do.

Importing is expensive, but not impossible. The key is to find a car that's built before Sept. 1, 1989 otherwise you'll need to install an airbag per regulations set by USDOT.

:idea:Otherwise, you'll have to pay shipping charges, insurance charges, import bonds (DOT), % of value fee, and fees for USEPA and USDOT Testing (these fees are part of the fee charged by an importer). A rough estimate if you do not have to install an airbag would be an additional $10K USD on top of the price of the car. :sosad:

If you'd like to see the details of what it takes to import a vehicle, please have a look at my site on my importation of a E30 M3 Cabriolet into the U.S.

5000 miles a year, that really sucks. It might always be pissing wet & fecking cold over here but at least we get the opportunity to get our grubby little hands on these homoligation specials(if your lucky enough)

BTW Nice car, what colour is it?

Yeah, it's that, and shipping is expensive, and there's a lot of fees to pay. Then when you get that all over with, they might make you only be able to drive it only 5,000 miles a year!!

MR Wheaton that would be cool if you could add the pics, cheers.

Thanks for the comments guys, she is immacualte. It took me 10 months to find her.

e30 I did'nt want A/C ,I live in Scotland, so don't need it that much:p so a S/R was the other option ,although it was the colour that was my main concern along with leather.I nearly sold my kidney to get her(I would'nt get that much for my mum):p

Cone why is it so expensive? Is it all down to regulations on safety & emissions?
