    anybody has a exploded view of the s14 engine such as the one listed below. i searched the gallery and couldn't fine one...

            So, in the 2nd picture, there is a double-hoop bracket bolted to the drivers side of the oil pan. It is part #21 in the diagrams that I can find on the ETK, but no listed BMW part #. I would assume that it is for oil-cooler hose routing? Has anyone ever ordered that part?

              is that bolt you see on the bottom of the second picture on the oil pan the one you undo to change the oil?
              sorry if its an ignorant question, about to change my oil for the first time
              how tight should i tighten it so as not to strip the thread

                yes that is the drain plug.

                I'm not certain on the torque spec, but it's going into cast AL so i'm guessing it's lighter than you think.

                  Interesting....

                  I've seen this picture several times now and never noticed that piece before. Because this is a very early production S14 and I would guess that BMW dropped the part from the B.O.M. You couldn't order that plenum anymore either.
