  • Anyone heard of Viper2 Chips in UK?

I was thinking of buying one of these chips on Ebay.UK for GBP75:

    Viper2-BMW-E30-E36-M3-Motorsport-Chip

My computer is a ECE KAT US 0261200071, probably the one that all you guys in the US have. (I live in Australia with a 1987 Japanese delivered car).

Do these Viper2 chips make a noticeble difference to performance?

Or can a few of you guys recommend any easily obtainable chips for reasonable money you have found to give good results.

    Cheers

    dont do it.
    i bought it for my e30 325is.
basically i wasted money...didnt like it and the idle was pretty darn bad. i put the stock chip back in.

I'd invest the money in a Iigo chip or a Turner chip.

If Im thinking of the right person.

Jayson also runs chippeduk.com. Ive heard seriously mixed reviews of his stuff. But the majority of them are less than favourable.

Best thing for ANY car is Live mapping. (and on road too, not on a rolling road) It might cost a bit more, but the benefits are far higher.

Without being biased, there are alot of e36 M3 owners who are very pleased with these chips.
        E30 M3 debateable at best.

But he does offer live mapping. You will just have to pay for the air fare.... :-)

Get a custom re-map, there is a guy at Motec Australia named Ross Buckingham he is a BMW racer as well, when he was in the Uk, he also knows the UK scene very very well. http://www.rossbuckinghammotorsport.co.uk/

Drop him an email and ask for a recomendation in Aus.

The guy that makes those chips was a member on my forum R3V for awhile.

It sold alot of people junk chips, and outright took other peoples money and gave them nothing in return. Not many people felt any difference with his chips vs without.

I asked him to leave, and he refused (as if he had a right to sell his crap wares) so he is now banned.

OK looks like I'll give ChippedUK a miss.
Sounds like the Iigo chip is worth a look.

Sorry to interupt the thread, but I was wondering if there are any chips that would work with my 320is? Would I be able to use the same as the 2.3L or does anybody know of somebody who makes them for my car?
Also how much are the general prices of these chips, do they just fit/solder into the existing Motronic, and what kind of gains if any would I be able to achive?

I know I should really be saving my money for a real M3 or M3 suspension, but I would like a litte more grunt from my motor.
              Thanks

The chips just fit into a "socket"

The best gain is the extra rev range. I dont know what other gains you will get,

                The 320is is a great car, its quicker to 60mph than a M3 2.3l

Would I be able to use the same as the M3... I am not sure it would work myself.
I dont mind spending a bit of money but I dont want to go to motec etc...

Im not sure if the S14 2.3-2.5 ones will work, maybe the early 195 models.

Chippeduk used to sell on fleabay, and had some unsavoury feedbacks, rude and abusive if things didnt go his way. bought a 318is chip from him and didnt work here in uk as he used usa mapping which wont work here in uk. kept on saying ive fried the chip etc! a few months later on he boasted on his adverts that he was the only person selling chips for uk cars as us ones wont work in uk ecu`s, be warned.

Your best bet is getting a live remap which is custom. The added bonus is that by doing this you get a before and after graph and if it's done by specialists it WORKS.
