      This is the Bosch part no.
      There are similar ECUs in use for some M3s:

      0 261 200 087
      0 261 200 090
      0 261 200 091
      0 261 200 092

      Exactly the same hardware, different Eproms.

            basically it's the chip that stores the data the computer uses to control the ignition and fuel systems. when you swap to a performance chip, youre swapping EPROMs.
