  • rust on spark plugs ? ?

while i was working on my car in class , another student came up to me and told me he had a 89 M3 but saw some rust on the plugs after a few thousand miles of use .

He seemed like a cool so I tried my best to help him out, but I was sorta stumped myself.

is this normal? has anyone come acrosss some rusty residue on their plugs before ?

I told him to check the pH of the coolant to make sure theres no leak by exhaust....also told him to put a pressure guage on the radiator while doing a compression test.

anywhoo , just wanted to see if any other members have come across this path

    thanks

"Rust" on the electrode side is fuel additive.
Rust on the outside insulator side is wrench scars+ Moisture+heat.
