Exhaust manifold causing rust

I've taken some pics of the chassis leg next to my exhaust manifold. the heat has removed the paint causing it to rust. I take it this is quite a common problem? How bad is mine, does it need urgent attention or will it be fine for a while?

Remember the old saw:
Rust never sleeps.
The sooner you attempt repair, the cheaper and more permanent the repair will be.

Mine is as yours is.
I will be adding extra heat shielding to the area.
