  • Stock M3 Spring Part Numbers (on springs)

    Happy New Year All,

In a case of extreme brain-fade I mixed up a number of springs I have in the garage. I'm about to mount a set of stock M3 springs on my E30 325is and want to make sure I have the right ones. Part numbers on springs themselves (which don't correspond to part numbers on ETK are as follows:

    Front: BMW1130046LP
    Rear: BMW2224147

Can anyone confirm these are the right springs?

    TIA,
    Joe

2005 KTM 450EXC (More fun than all of the above)

    Gone:

    1985 BMW M635CSI

1988 BMW 325is (E30 M3 springs, steering, Konis, etc) - my favorite BMW - missed.

Not sure about part numbers but M3 springs have a red/pink stripe painted on them. You can also lift up the 325 and compare the springs. The M3 springs are visibly shorter.

the rears are M3-springs the fronts are some other E30. The part numbers of M GmbH-specific parts start with 2 22 (4, 5 or 6 as next digit) for the era of E30-E34. Maybe even E28.

The stripe codes on front springs can be different depending on AC in the car or not.

        Front spring part # 31 33 11 30 043
        Back spring part # 33 53 90 61 084

        For US speck cars.

Sorry, I have to correct myself. From 2/87 onwards the front spring with PN 1130046 was used on all M3's with AC (and other E30's for that matter).
1130043 was used on pre-02/87 M3's with AC and on post-02/87 M3's without AC.

If my info is correct the rear spring PN for an M3(US) is 2 226 147

So what you have there is a set for your M3, not 325is
