  • I do believe I blew my transmission

    Now instead of going:
    R..1..3..5
    ....2..4

    It goes:
    3..3..3..3..3
    4..4..4

I was hoping it was the shift linkage or the connecting rod, but it's not.

    :(

Time for a close-ratio dogleg. I'm not sure how much a tranny rebuild is or a new unit...but doglegs seem to be around [email protected] which seems very reasonable to me.

Thanks. I might get it, but this guy has virtually no feedback and they are all from sellers. This would be great if he is legit.

just out of curiousity, do you have a short shift kit on the tranny? I had a problem with mine once that prevented me from finding the right gears in the right places.

overdrive boxes usually go for $400 in good shape, 300 in well used condition, 650-800 rebuilt...

I have a Rogue SSK on it, but I'm pretty sure that that is not the problem. I jacked up the car and everything seems to be in place. Is it possible that it is the clutch? A friend told me that usually, when the tranny goes, it takes months to lose as many gears as I did in one day.

                    i just did a tranny swap recently. i bought a 47k mile for $600.
most people were selling 100k trannys for about $500.

ron checca had a blanton rebuilt 0 mile tranny. i forget the price, something around $1,000.
                    which seems pretty reasonable.

I tend to agree with your friend (although anything is possible). Double/triple check the connections for the shifter at the front. The bracket (shaped like _|-|_) that connects to the upper part of the tranny likes to break and that would cause the problem you're seeing, as would anything else up in that area thats broken (missing/broken pin, etc.).

Take off your exhaust, remove the heat shielding, and drop the front of your driveshaft so you can have a good and thorough look up there.

The bracket that Jefrem talks about, is what broke on mine during a trip to the Ring ( I blame the bumpy Karussell ) and left me with only 2 gears .When that bracket breaks , you can go back or forward with the shifter to get a gear , but on mine I couldn't go across the box .
