anyone converted to manual windows?

My driver's side power window has been inoperable for a while, and I've been thinking of just converting it to a manual window, just for the driver's side. Has anyone tried or completed this project? I haven't been able to take a good look at a standard E30 door to see if the mechanism will just bolt in, but the last tiem I looked, it seemed like it had different holes, but maybe I didn't look very carefully.

have you tried changing the window switch? I just don't see why you would want to go to manual when you have a power window?

I'd love to go with crank windows and drop some more weight. I'd prefer no sunroof either but all US cars have them. My old 635 had a manual crank sunroof that was very easy to use. That probably cut a few pounds too. Cutting weight accentuates the good qualities of the car IMO.

exactly, I'd do it for the weight advantage, I'd probably keep the passenger side power, for now at least.

I'm also getting rid of my sunroof too now that you mention it.
