My update was $113 including return shipping and the repair of the broken control knob.

The additional accessories (fuses, power plug, new cord, fuses) came to another ~$73 with shipping.

Spray paint and tire shine doesn't equate to a "restoration!"

Yours must have been newer than mine then. $113 would have been way more in line of what I was expecting than $200.

I'm running a V1 also and agree with all the previous statements regarding false readings on the K-band. I like the V1 and had it upgraded a few years ago with one of the new Euro bands.
The only other thing that I dislike is the stupid suction cups, they just don't stick when the moving it from one car to the next if the temperature is different between the two car windows.

Chris do you know if the V1 still ships with the same tiny suction cups with the wire linking them or have they beefed up the suction cups?

In regard to frequent alerts secondary to active cruise controls, I recently addressed this issue with much improvement.
After receiving an email from Valentine on fixing the issue, I sent in one of my units for the software update. It came back updated, but I still had to turn off option "t" which I think is the traffic monitor option. You do that by turning the unit on while holding down the power button. Then push the button to scroll through the options. Hold down the button to change an option between on and off. On, arrow up, of,f arrow down. Turn off to lock in the changes..
After I did this and noticed an improvement, I check my other units. One was so old it did not have this option to change. Another unit did have this option, and even though the software was not updated to the latest version, turning off option "t" greatly improved the false alerts.
Instructions are on their web site for more info.
          Good luck.
          Bill

            Same suction cups AFAIK.
Perhaps ordering an extra window mount and leaving it attached to the glass is easier?

Ok, so I called V1 and gave them my serial number. They said my unit is, gulp, 16 yrs old! So basically for $279, they are giving me a new unit.
Sorry that we hijacked this thread, but I think the upshot is that Valentine 1 is still the leader in performance, but I think maybe Escort has more
gee whiz features with great perfromance, but not quite as good as V1.

I have the Passport 9500x (dash mount) in my M3 and the 9500ci (built in) in my Gallardo with the laser shifters and both work spectacularly.

That's proabably what I should do. But with my history of modding my car, I'll probably end up making a more reliable custom mounting solution.

                  Thanks Chris.

Bringing this back. I paid for the latest update and send my V1 back in.. It is a huge improvement. I drove 1800 miles over Christmas break and it saved me three times. The K-band was back to where it was years ago. Would occasionally go off. Anyway, if you have an older V1, its expensive to get the update, but seemingly well worth it.
