  • 2.5L crankshaft pulley bolt

    Hello,

I am buying an engine, which is suppoosed to have the 2.5L crankshaft, but as i have read on the forum that the 2,5L crankshaft had 30mm bolt, and the 2,3L has 36mm bolt. The engine was originally 320is and it has now 2.5L crankshat and 2.5L connecting rods. He says it is now 2,4L engine, but as i asked him to measure the bolt, he said it is 36mm. Is it possible to put the "old" 2,3L bolt into the 2,5L crankshat?

    Thank you!

The 2.0l and 2.3 liter engines have nut on the crankshaft, while the 2.5 liter has bolt. So if it has bolt, probably is a 2.5

2.3L is actually a nut, not a bolt, so if you feel the nose of the crank protruding then it's not likely a 2.5. That said, there's an outside chance someone stroked the 2.3L crank to 2.5L in which case it would still have the crank nut vs a bolt.
