Buzzing / vibrating gear stick

Hello,
The (standard) gear stick on my totally stock 60K miles E30 M3 vibrates from about 4500 onwards.
The vibration makes a very annoying high frequency buzzing noise.
Not sure how to cure it.
Any ideas? Anyone had this issue?

Everyone has had this issue.
Search away and you will find a lot of discussions.
You will hear a lot about replacing all the shifter linkage bushings and possibly a weighted linkage rod.

No real need to remove it....

You will probably find that you can only manage the buzz rather than completely curing it.

Ironhead, very true. I use it as an indicator to start paying attention, 7000 is coming fast.

Try lifting up the shift boot and wrapping some stick on mag wheel weights all the way around the lower 1/2 of the shift leaver and stick on some where it changes sizes on the taper section.
The p/o did this to mine and I have been lucky not to get any vibes with worn bushes and no vibes when I replaced all the bushes.
