  • E30 M3 Cabriolet

    Chaps,

I've not posted on here for a long time since my Evo2 was lost in a divorce.

Anyway, I received an email the other day from the chap I bought my second Evo2 from in France more than 10 years ago. He has a few cars including an E30 M3 cabriolet in diamond Schwarz with black leather that he now wishes to sell. It's got 124,000 km's on the clock (77,500 miles), 1st registered July 1989, full service history and has been restored over the past 3 years (body, soft top, upholstery and mechanics). He has a Wiesmann hard top. He's asking 75,000 euros for it.

Is there much demand for these stateside?

    Regards,

There are not many E30 M3 Cabriolets in the U.S. I count the ones I know of and it's 10, if you include the ones in Canada. The cost of importing was a big deterrent previously. Today all of them are over 25 years old. At 25 years old, there are no importation requirements since they are considered historic vehicles in the US. I'd imagine there are more in the country now, but there's no way to track it unless the owner posts it.

Regarding pricing and demand, there's a comparable car currently for sale in the U.S. It was restored to mint condition over it's stay here in the U.S. The owner is an enthusiast. He has it currently on consignment with a dealer that's currently advertising it on the following website (See link below). It's been for sale for a while. Demand is very specific for these cars. When you want one, they are hard to find. I spent 5 years actively looking for the one I ended up purchasing. There were only 786 made. Back when I was looking I needed a vehicle built after 1989 and prior to 1990 due to catalyst and airbag issues.

All are available to import today as historical vehicles.

        Here's the link: https://tinyurl.com/y9pel4eg

        1989 E30 M3 Cabrio - Nogaro Sliver / Black - 1 of 786
        1990 E30 M3 - Sterling Silver / Black
        1991 E30 318is - Sterling / Black (Mtech II project)

Can anyone suggest most suitable website for him to advertise in the US? He knows about mobile.de as that is where he advertised the M3 that I bought from him.

          Thanks.
