  • JTCC Race Record for M3/1-60

Based on the information in the notebook sent by the former owner I've been able to compile the race record for M3/1-60 in the JTCC from 1988-1993. I would appreciate any input/corrections/etc. from the group. Thanks for your help!

Are you on Flickr? There are some E30 M3 race car photo collections/groups with tons of images from events modern and vintage. Could be worth joining (use Yahoo login if you have one) to see if you can find, or maybe request, photos of your car. I’d link you but they’re private if you’re not a Flickr member.

The photos don't seem to be indexed by Google so they don't show up in typical searches.

Found a multi-part Japanese report on the 1993 season on YouTube. This would be a lot easier if I spoke Japanese. Only after writing this entire post did I realize that there are two different sets of very similar videos with 5 parts, one labeled "first half" and one "second half." I will label them 1.1, 2.1, ... (first half) and 1.2, 2.2, ... (second half).

Part 1.1 features a short snippet of your car on the grid at the 1993 Mine's 300, around 6:45:
      https://youtu.be/vbHu1vPOSj4

Part 2.1 has the results confirming the standings you have listed, 3rd in class.
      https://youtu.be/HZwhs9BPPtw

Part 3.1 captures your car's 2nd in class finish at Autopolis (tri-color grandstands in the video match Wikipedia image).
      https://youtu.be/CmvFyxXRVM4

Part 4.1 is the race at Sugo, your car's not featured in the video or results so we can't explicitly confirm the 4th in class finish.
      https://youtu.be/THsS532z9Mo

Part 5.1 doesn't really exist - it is the same video as Part 5.2, I believe the uploader made a mistake and shared the same video twice. It should have shown your result at Suzuka, 6th in class.

Now for the second half of the season:

Part 1.2 features short snippets from the first 4 races of the first half of the season. It kicks off new content with your 1st in class finish at Okayama. It also features an interview with your car's drivers, Mr. Reid calls it a "fantastic result."
      https://youtu.be/uNcGPHagq1A

Part 2.2 has a nice shot of your car on the grid around the 1-minute mark. This is from Tsukuba, your car finishes 3rd in class. There is a nice on-board of your car battling with the Autotech car at the 4:45 mark.
      https://youtu.be/Fqx7-FQ7Uhs

Part 3.2 shows the 2nd in class finish at Tokachi.
      https://youtu.be/15Y9NgxO10A

Part 4.2 shows the 3rd in class finish at Sendai. Has some great footage at the beginning of legends Tom Kristensen and Keichi Tsuchiya joking around, and good footage of your car slicing and dicing with (and eventually punting) the Wako M3.
      https://youtu.be/GgtgToc_8yQ

Part 5.2 shows your car's 2nd in class finish at Fuji to cap off the season.

So in summary, video record of 8 of the 9 races that season with some good information on qualifying lap times, total race times, intervals to other cars in class, etc. Hopefully this is helpful information to you.

Here's a translated archive from Japanese of the race results for JGTC seasons:

Finally, here's the first of a similar multi-part video series from the 1992 season. It's getting late here but I may come back and study those videos later this week.

@ Konig- Thank you so much for all your work! I did run across those videos and actually sucked them down to add to my stash. I did a video history of my Luigi CSL that won the 1976 ETCC and I was able to find some period video to include (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyQo1UDHBOU). My plan is to do the same with this car. Like you, I wish I spoke Japanese. It would make the job a lot easier!

Do you have photos of what the car looked like for each season it raced (and in what series)?

This photographer has period DTM photos that may have early images of your car.

They're also just amazing photos in general!
