  • Pirelli P700Z 225/45R16 re-issue

A member of the BMW Z1 community here in Germany has good contacts to Pirelli and has approached them regarding remaking the above mentioned tyre for the Z1 in its original tread pattern but using todays tread compounds and carcass knowledge.

The tyres will be manufactured in the facilities they normally use for (limited numbers) development tyre manufacturing here in Germany.
As this tyre size also fits our M3 I offered to gauge interest within the M3 community.

There's no information (yet) on the characteristics of the tyre but I am confident it will suit both the Z1 and the M3.

Should you be interested then please reply to this post by quoting and adding your username and details to the list till May 1st. Extend as required.

Today I received the good news that BMW is currently assessing/testing the Pirelli P700Z to provide Pirelli with feedback on the tyre.
And not only that, it's being done on the Henna red M3 that BMW Classic have in their collection!

Good to see that Pirelli decided to go ahead with this.

Pirelli has finished the development and are offering the P700Z in 225/45R16 now, as I learned from a post on the e30m3 SIG.

Tire Rack has three in stock as present. $283 ea.

They also have four other options including Advan A052 (great tire BTW), Dunlop ZIII, Toyo R1R and R888R. All less expensive than the Pirelli.

But only the Pirelli p700z was developed using an M3 E30 in cooperation with BMW's tyre development engineers!

That is an interesting factoid I was not aware of.

                              Begin search for 16" wheels LOL . . .
