Sort of off-topic, but I was looking for tires for my GTR and came across this very interesting set on Tire Rack.

Reviving an older thread but wanted to check before (back)ordering a set… I have a stock 1989 m3 over here, wanting to upgrade to the 16” basketweave wheels. Would these work without rubbing?

Yes, provided the correct size wheel is used. 225/45R16 is the stock size for the Evolution models and the +1 size for standard M3s.

Tyres will work since they have been developed on the M3 (the Henna red one that is part of BMW's collection).
            Styling 5, basket weave 7,5j x 16 has 27mm inset for the M3.
The E28 M5 styling 5 of same outer dimensions but with 20mm inset fits without issues too.

I always thought they were the same exact 16" wheel from the E30 to E28. Didn't realize they made the same style 16" with two different insets. Thanks for the info!

And nobody has these in stock… just got a notice from Tire Rack stating they have no idea if and when they’ll be replenished. Anyone in the US with some ideas? The options for a 225/45/16 are not the greatest…

                  Begin search for 16" wheels LOL . . .
On my E30/M3 I was running BBS/RS 16X7.5 ET20 (rear)/ET 14 (front) with 225X50ZR16 until 7 years ago and switched to BMW Type 5 17x8ET20 with 235/40ZR17 (a little rubbing on front at full lock/jounce).

I redrilled/inserted the BBS/RS for 5x108 and running them on my 1984 242 Volvo Turbo (museum like) hot-rod.

I think that you will be happy with BBS/RS in 16"

I don't want to get flamed, but I bought new General (summer rated) tires for the Volvo and they are darn amazing/good for that car. I am running Yoko on the E30/M3 and also very good and cheap! Pirelli also brought back the CN36 Cinturaro 185/70R15 that I bought for my 72 911S, they look amazing but costed 2.5X of the M3 tires :(

Too bad I don't know how to post pictures...
