  • Help Removing Rotor (Stripped Fastener)

    One of the fastener heads on my rotor is stripped - specifically my allen hex socket doesn't grip inside the hex head. Anyone have this happen and what was your solution to finally removing it when it is still on the distributor housing? As you know access is pretty tight at the front of the engine (mostly the upper radiator hose).

    Brief rant - Stupid engineering. Why didn't Bosch cut a slot so a screw driver could be used? Grrr . . . .

    What I have used is my trusty 5WR wise grips, well worth the investment I use mine regularly.

      vise grips, flat blade screwdriver jammed in the hole, EZ-Out, cut a slot with a dremmel. have successfully used all those options.

        I had have gotten good results using a torx bit, once you get it it gives you a good grip.

          I usually cut a slot across it with a Dremel or a muffler cutter and use a screwdriver to back it out. Works every time.
