  • Help needed identifying a bolt with a guide

    Hi,

I am restoring the engine of my 320is and it has been a while since I started. I have tagged most of the parts when disassembling but I can not remember where this bolt with a guide should go, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That bolt is used on the front of the head (or cambox, can't recall) and the guide extends past the threads and prevents the timing chain guide from backing out of the motor. The timing chain guide has 8mm threads in it (I think) and you can pull it out of the head to release the guide. This bolt prevents it from backing out on its own

      Yup, cam box to head.

You can see it in this picture, it's the bolt under the distributor housing.
