  • Doors....

My RH door has some damage from long ago that is difficult to repair properly. I am looking for options for a new door. Actual E30M3 doors are of course "NLA", but I was wondering if anyone has pinned down the difference between the M3 door and the standard E30 ones? They look the same at a glance. Just wondering if converting E30 doors is practical/possible. Never really looked into this before, so any input would be appreciated.

    TIA

I am pretty sure I remember a discussion on this a long time ago. The contour of the M3 door has a little more 'bulge' than the standard E30 one if I recall. Other than that you would just have to fill the pre drilled holes that the door trim from the regular e30 snaps into.

I found it....at least found enough...

It isn't practical to use a regular E30 door. Dammit. The damage to my current door "can" be repaired....it is just small dents in the area behind the door handle, where the metal is double thick and cannot easily be knocked out. I imagine it can be pulled with weld on studs. I guess that is my path. Or I might just chill out and leave it....

I've got a set of doors I'd part with. $4000 for 2 or $2500 for 1. I can deliver to Air and Sea and you can pay them to pack and ship. Professional company I trust them with my work items. Or pickup in Md. They are Zinno I believe. They have vin tags, glass and they are complete.

Speak to E30 Garage Norway. He's posted on Facebook that these are being reproduced by himself. I took that to mean he is making and re-skinning regular E30 doors. That's a pure guess on my part though, I did ask him details, but never heard back. Unfortunately, he still lacks a website with any prices/availability/details.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking shipping from Norway would be devastating.

I appreciate the input greatly, but when I see a used door going for $2500, or having one shipped from Europe, and consider any replacement door will have to be painted regardless, it has sort of wised me up as to my situation. I suppose it makes more sense to repair the one I have (with VIN stickers matching my car). If I could get a new door from BMW for $400 or so, I would for sure do so. But clearly I can't. Maybe if I procrastinate long enough, BMW will release a new batch of doors.

            Thanks for all the input.

CAtuned in Sacramento are the US distributor for E30 Garage Norway. They only list a few of their parts, but might be worth an email just to ask and discount ?

Unless yours is really badly bent, repairing what I presume is door skin damage , can't be that bad or as costly as either a used price asked here, or a remanufactured part.

Remarkable. I am a stone's throw from Sacramento, and I had no idea an E30 specialist place was even there. Live and learn.

As far as the repair, I am planning on doing it myself. Just procrastinating on pulling the trigger.

I replaced a passenger door with one from a non-m e30. The only difference we saw was the need to fill in the holes for a piece or trim. Not sure about inside as this was for a track car.
