My door makes a knocking sound when I open it. I replaced the hinge brake, but it did not fix the problem. After reading some previous posts, it was suggested that the problem may be that the piece that is attached to the car that the hinge brake mates with may have cracks in the spot weld. I think that may be my issue. Has anyone run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Sounds like the attach point to the car. Had this happen to my eta years ago. Took it to a really good welder that was local to me and he did a great job fixing it. In my case he said it was a straight forward job. Only had to do a minor paint touch up. I think most of it was hidden by the rubber boot. Don’t live with it, best to get it fixed earlier so you don’t have more cracking in the attach points.

Thanks JP. I removed the door brake, because I did not want to do anymore damage. It looks like a straight forward weld job. I am looking for a weld shop in the area. I am not driving the car now, because there is a lot of other work to be done. If you have a photo of your weld, please post it. Thanks.
