  • Thank God!!!!

    Guys,
    i have been saved!!
I found a motor replacement for the one i let heat up too much a couple of weeks ago. I think that i got a great price. here is the link to the auction on ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

he is giving me everything else along with it, since he will be doing a S50 swap. That means i get the tranny, radiator, exhaust system, alternator, AC compressor etc.....
I had him take the car to the local BMW place called "RED LINE BMW Performance" and have a compression test done on the motor. i wanted to be sure about the compression numbers he was posting up. Once they were done they faxed me the bill to see, 215 across the board!

So he is dropping it off at RED LINE tomorrow to have the motor pulled and everything else (He sadi that he wants to make sure that the master tech named rennie does the job because he doesnt want them to be cutting hoses and such nor does he want them to sratch up his car). then on tuesday he is gonna drop it off at the local shipping place where i will receive it in 2 DAYS! This is awesome. No leaks of anything and the ac runs cold.

FYI: This also means that i will be selling various parts in the next few weeks since i will have my old motor out and will be disecting it for the autopsy. So keep checking for updates.

    Thanks
    Joey

Hey Vlad... From what it sounds like, He could do it himself.... He told me that if he couldn't get the master tech rennie to remove the motor that he would do it himself. he said that it only takes him 2.5 hours to remove the motor, but that he would rather have them do it. But if i had to guess i would say that probably RED LINE.

Congrats on scoring what sounds like a great motor!

However, lingering in my head is the same question, why is he swapping to an M50 engine. The M50 is a standard run of the mill 1990 through 1996 325 / 525 engine. It puts down about 190hp and is certainly not a screamer like our S14. It is a great around town engine, but strikes me as odd to put that in an M3.

Although, perhaps this guy has plans for a turbo or supercharger on it?????? If that is the case then he has is building a fun Frankenstein!!!!!!

Thats exactly what he is doing. If you look at what he has been purchasing on ebay you will see, intercooler etc......he told me that he has done this before with another m3 and did not like the results with the handling since you have way more power and weight. He said that this time he will be chaging everything including suspension and all that Jazz, which i know nothing about.
He seems like a really nice Guy, Lives in Boca Roton Florida so maybe some of you guys have seen him down there. He owns a comany called "Sun Wise swimwear".
Anyways when i asked about the motor he asked me if i would feel better if he took it to the local BMW performance shop and run a compression test and such. He did and they faxed me the results. He paid 70 bucks to make me feel more confident in the purchase, and thats way cool in my book.
