  • Anyone know User = Rouvld ?

A few months back, I agreed to purchase an item from "Rouvld". I sent the PayPal, exchanging a ship-to address and he replied that he would ship "the next day". As far as I can tell it never shipped (it certainly wasn't received) and there has been no response to any of my messages. His activity on S14 is very limited, but is not the typical of a scammer.

Do any users out there know this individual ? Did something happen to him, or did he just decide to take money and run ?

    thanks

There's also a high probability that you got scammed. There have been a lot of instances lately here and on FB S14.net and other groups I'm in where new members with zero posts respond to parts wanted ads and convince you that they have the part. Once you pay them, they're back to the crack den and you never hear from them. Hope that's not the case.

ZinnoM and I discussed this via PM and I took at the account. It doesn't fit the recent scammer profile. He's been on the forum for many years and his IP, email, and post history look normal.

That is certainly a high probability , and that's my operating conclusion. It was little different so I thought I I'd write a dual purpose post; Notify folks about the potential scam, and see if there was some other cause. The difference in this case is he joined years ago and had a post or two (that did provide some insight) and this came out of the blue. He did have pictures of the product with part numbers, but anyone could grab images of the web. Now that I write this, I wonder if someone snagged his user id & password. I went and checked Rev3 and he hadn't been on there for 6-7 years.

Over here in the U.K there have been many instances on eBay where someone hacks an account and then lists 100's of previous cars which had been up for sale by other sellers.

In order to make sure the part is in the hands of the person offering I ask for a picture of the item with a smartphone or laptop screen next to it that shows the local date and time of any place of my choosing.
Of course they could still pull a scam by not sending it to me after I pay but I won't fall for pictures pulled off the internet.

Sorry to hear. Let me know if you want me to ban him, or wait until you possibly resolve it?

I had a scammer on here attempt to get me. He was very crafty. mattbeloed is the username, he PM'd me and said to email another user that he bought some from (username withheld). The email address was not another user on here, but his own email address. The pictures he supplied via email were obviously googled and from other S14 threads.

                  TL;DR be careful.

Sorry to hear about that ZinnoM got scammed, that sucks :(

Just get a refund from Paypal and sort the rest out later.
