Properly put turbo set up also outperform as you call it "style of power" which one can't adjust on S/C
Remove your subjectivity of how much you like turbo over an SC from the discussion. We are not talking turbo'ing it at all, OR comparing them, at all. Only the downside of why SC is a bad idea? Yeah it takes engine HP to run it, but if you still come out with the result that you are looking for, who cares?

SC won't ruin the personality of the S14, only enhance it. SC won't ruin the build of HP all the way to redline linearly.

But yes as you call it engine response is one from the long list.
How does it change the response of the S14 other than more power?

          Tony,

Be more constructive and you should compare because you are going to Fi. In both cases you have a "Lump" ones you open the hood either blower or a snail ! In both cases you will have piping etc..

in Snail configuration you can place the snail bottom mount from esthetic points so ones the good is open its much cleaner. One can build a very clever set up and give wider range of set ups.

Be my guest, take trip down to LA and I will give you are ride with 2 diff E30M3s one of them is with SC and the other is with......and we can talk all of the points I mean then we put AC on, you put a 6th gear at 20mph and accelerate.....I want an engine set up to perform everywhere for daily driver.

Tony, one of the Best daily driving BMW ever made in my personal opinion is E39M5, period. Big 4.9l quad vanos with power available from idle to 5500rpm to get now-torque and moved the chassis in any gear you are at like its nothing. No other BMW M in NA form can compete. One can get sooooooo lazy with E39M5 driving it...I catch myself on 6th gear at 1200rpm in heavy traffic to accelerate with AC on 4 people inside and trunk full luggage, full 20gallons of fuel and uphill and accelerates like its nothing.....and yet you drop a gear and you rip the asphalt, a car with 4800lb !...

You want to build that comfort for daily driving car, supercharger will never ever offer that comfort.

"Engine goes everywere" maaaaajor reason I created the Double Variable timing for our engines. Tony remember what you mentioned few days ago how happy you are driving E46M3 ? You want same experience in the E30M3 skin.(not saying swap S54 altho its an option) but be after this experience.

A proper decision is all made only when you have options, if you have single option then you have nothing to compare. When you build your 2.7 why did you do that ? the 2.3 or 2.5 will never offer what the 2.7 did. Use the same principle and it will be easier for you to make a decision you will be happy with.

I had an E39 M5, and yes it's the best daily driver they ever made. I totally agree.

I'm literally as far as one can get from LA. I'm on the other coast on the ocean. Id love to drive them but that would be impractical.

Im still not hearing what is so wrong about the SC on the S14? Do you have dyno sheets to overlay a stock 2.3 with a SC'd one?

I don't want a turbo car. I don't like the throttle response, the huge thrust down low, and trailing off breath. A SC'd engine builds all the way to redline.

Who's to say I can't add your vanos to the SC'd S14 and make it even better?

i guess we can just have differing opinions on this.
