I am due for smog and my car runs very clean but I know I will be targeted for the dreaded visual failure due to the airbox setup. For those of you who jumped
It's smog time and the shop did a pre-test before the actual test and detected slight blips out of range for NOx emissions. So not knowing where to start, I bought a new O2 sensor and a new catalytic converter set from maganflow (it is the only CARB approved replacement catalytic set available besides OEM).
Here is the issue,
I recently has my S14 head gasket replaced and it failed California smog test terribly (how about being classified as a gross polluter) even with a new catalytic converter. On the other hand, smog checks for the past two years passed with flying color even with an 90K catalytic converter. The test failed in HC 118 MAX vs. 161
