The convertibles were made until later than the saloons. There are even a few on an 'L' plate.
Very occasionally you may even see a 'K' plated saloon - late registered 1992/3, probably having sat around in a showroom for a couple of years.
The burgundy red (in fact Calypso red) car was said to be one of six made to special order in that colour.
Looks great on the convertible.
Originally posted by evostorm In the UK the registration plate goes by the year of registration, not year of manufacture.
A great example of this is a recent ebay auction for a Ford Cortina circa; 1983 (Y Reg ordinarily in the UK), still unregistered - It will now be a 2005 plate when registered with a prefix of ??05 ???
There are cars like this around, including M3's, its just a matter of them surfacing from their collections/sheds!!
Well it says in the add, That he is in the States, But the car is with ML here in the UK, And they are helping him sell it.
Doesn t look like a scam to me, All one would have to do is give ML a call to find out

But if you try and register that Cortina now, wouldn't it have to pass current regs for safety emissions ? If it's going to get a new plate and be a new car ,I'm guessing it would.
