  • Finially got Dog Leg trans need diff help...

Ok, so I got the trans, and now I need a diff.
The 4.10 will just not work!!

    I want a 3.64 or a 3.46 and maybe a 3.73.

It would be nice to have a top speed of 150mph and I do NOT want to be at 5000rpms crusing at 60mph.

    So, my questions are....
    1. What cars came with these diffs?
    2. Does any one have one to sell me?
    3. Where can I get a dog leg shift boot insert for my lighted shifter?
    4. Does anyone want to come over and help me do the install when I get all the parts?

What's wrong with a 3.25:1 or are you going for greater acceleration?

So what's the story of the trans? How did you come across it?

I love the dogleg box it works really well in these cars.

I can get a 3.73 locally, it's not really what I want. The 4.10 would be sweet for 1/4mi times but not good for anything else.

Yes, I hope that I love it also!

Nothing is wrong witht he 3.25, but I want a little more go, there is no reason for a 170mph top end.

Run it in the 1/4 once for kicks, see what kinda times you get. I wanna dogleg.

I want a dogleg too, one more part that I'm jealous of

Anyway, the 3.64 or 3.46, I can't remember which one was commonplace on the 6-series cars. A place like Zionsville Autosport that sells all those used diffs will most likely be able to tell you what cars each one came out of. A friend of mine in Jersey found a 3.64 out of a 6-series for his S50 conversion. Good luck

You can find 3.46 on 88 528e Automatics but few are LSD so you will have to be lucky. 3.25 is probably your best bet since they are plentiful here in the US from 535's and such. 3.64 is pretty rare here in the US.
