I heard the 6-speed transmission from the Euro 3.2 L engine requires major reworking of the E30M3 transmission tunnel to get it to work. It can be done, but some cutting and hammering is required.

Anyone out there have any information or thoughts about putting an e36 m3 motor into an e30. How hard is it? Do you use the subframe and suspension from the e36? How are the chassis different? Also, does anyone know the weight difference between the two motors? Have any of you guys out there done it?? I am just wondering how hard it is and what is involved in the swap.

It is a pretty common swap. There are dozen's of people that post on different forums with a E36M3 to E30 swap. Ask Alex Mchenry, he has a beast of a motor in his E30///M3.
