  • Headgasket

Well firstly id like to say hello as I am new to the site & M3's as i've only had mine for 3 months

As per the header my headgasket has blown & i can't find any information for the S14 engine anywhere or a general out line of how to remove the head so any information & advice would be greatly appreciated. I was a Technician for 6yrs but that was 8 yrs ago, i do have a good general mechanical knowledge & seeing as the quotes I am getting from BMW etc are shall we say slightly high i thought id have ago myself!

    Many thanks in advance

    Alex

Whereabouts in the UK are you? I have some e30 repair proceedures on PDF that I could mail you but I don't think they give any torque figures as BMW put them in a seperate manual, you might be able to find them out on the internet though.

If you don't have a go yourself and you want a specialist to do the job for you , then I can recommend both Bexley Motor Works at..

        10 a Lion Road
        Bexleyheath
        Kent
        DA6 8NR
        020 8304 9797

and ETA Klassiks in Meopham ( near Gravesend Kent )
        01474 814480
        07974 912139

Both of these are E30 M3 specialists which I've used many times and will know more about M3's than your local BMW dealer.
This space is a sanctimonious shit free zone.

Get a Factory work shop book, AKA Blue book, or the koala CD repair manual.
          koalamotorsport.com it's like $109.

Are you sure you need a new head gasket? A lot of times the header studs & nuts come of giving you all kinds of noise, loss of power, and such.

Yeah im pretty sure its the H/gasket as i'm getting airiation the water boils before the fan cuts in & is then just thrown out of the header tank, even with the fan on constantly she still boils up I have also replaced the thermostat & the rad as i found a small hole in it.

SO what is this blue book & where can I get one from?

thanks again for all your advise & help

Check ebay on the book, they some times go for a big price. There are also some in PDF on ebay, they just send you a CD.

It came from a GB last SEPT, I waited almost a year for it. The company is VIS, I'd say it's a 9 out of 10.

Augh, you and I can not afford that kind of junk, it just gets us in trouble!

                      VIS RACING

This was a GB so they were cheap, I paid $400 for mine. Shipping was expensive at $100.

They made these special, so I'm not sure if they have any more.

Alex Mc is woking on getting some really nice CF parts, you may want to PM him and ask.
