My Sachs pressure plate that broke after about 350 miles of use was purchased directly from SSF and I remember payng about $310 for the whole kit.

I have seen other M3 PP and the big difference (and point of failure) between the new ones ordered and the original ones that came out of the cars is the number of straps used. If I recall correctly, the original ones had 3 metal straps on them, whereas every single new one I've seen only has 1.

Nick, can you describe or post a photo of the strap / straps?

      Thanks!

as far as I have been told both parts are identical, expect the M3 plate having round cut outs around the perimeter. Don't know if this is to aid cooling or weight.

Goodbye M3, you served me well.

Nicos is right...beware the stock replacements, more than a couple people have have the straps break, and beat the mother-loving crap out of the bellhousing and even the crank sensors. It's so common, it has driven the price of used bellhosings up!
We're in the midddle of Steve's Clutch Masters install (Bimmerworld, IIRC?) and that pressure plate has probably 4-6 straps on it. Nice peice, and not that much more expensive.
What??? an E30 M3 for sale??? I'll be right there!!!

The straps we're taking about are what holds the heavy steel friction surface to the pressure plate stamped housing. Rivited to both peices, about 1/2" wide, and 2" long steel straps. There are 3 or four of them around the perimeter. If you only have one layer of strapping, run away.

I don't have a pic, but the description Greg (Baxter) gave above about the straps should help you identify what I am talking about.

In the meantime, my 100K+ mile pressure plate is working just fine, thank you very much Sachs.

I too will be ordering the kit from bimmerworld one of these days...I just hate pulling the tranny out again.

Well, the seller is sending the correct 3082 005 336 Pr. plate.

Just to pass on what I have found out, here are the SACHS part numbers needed for an E30 M3.

                PR. Plate 3082 005 336
                Clutch disc 1862 168 232
                TO bearing 053151231031 / 614105 cb-04003

                SACHS kit = KF775-01
LUK kit = 03-045 (uses exact same part numbers as SACHS kit)

                SACHS phone # (440) 871-4890

One day this post might help someone else out.:cheer2:

As a reference, the PR. Plate 3082 005 134 in the photo I posted has 3 straps around the perimiter. The straps are sandwiched two on top of each other.

Great, so even the correct 3082 005 336 could be a problem?
Will hope for the best & count the straps...........

Did you ever install this kit? I just ordered the same one off ebay.It came with a Sachs Part#3082 005 134. The ebay listing said it was for an e30 M3. Just wanted to see if it worked out for you or do I have to send it back. Thanks

Why does no one rebuild their stock one? The entire system can be rebuilt to spec or better just replace the t-o bearing...

just joined the pressure plate failure gang.. JB racing flywheel.. possibly FTL (for the loss?)

bell housing is ventilated but the flywheel sensors were fine.. caught this early on as i was at an autocross and the car just did not feel right at idle as i started a run... just a little extra vibration

                          for posterity my PP is a Sachs.. p/n 3082 005 336...
not good news for you NSX... has what looks like 2 layers (straps) but they really appear to be just one they are so close together.

the other pressure plate i have in my spares box is 3082 005 106.. from a spare motor that came from an accident car.... 10 to 1 that part # matches to the 318.. someone in the past told me that the setup for the 318 is close to the E30 M3 and is cheaper... the M version has holes in it (less weight?) whereas the 106 does not.

                            Doesn't the M42 have a 215mm clutch?

I have a centerforce clutch. I like the engagement and heavy action required (i'm twisted) and can easily handle my ~200rwhp. However, I sometimes have an issue engaging 1st gear or reverse from dead stop. I'm not sure if this is clutch related, but can't figure it out for life of me. Prob only thing on my car that annoys me, as sometimes I just keep clutch in at a light to avoid possible hassle. (it wears out TO bearing, but I hardly am at a stop).

I'm really tempted to go overboard and pick up the OS Giken kit...

I also just received a SACHS clutch kit with the same pressure plate part # --- 3082 005 134.

Can anyone identify this particular pressure plate? It doesn't seem correct.
