  • failing engine mounts

well...the euretane engine mount on the exhaust side simply liquefies after 4 months of daily use.

One year ago i installed stiffer mounts, but after four months the exhaust side mount was dead (heat plate in place of course).
Then i ordered another mount of the same make, thinking to some installation error and installed it in august of this year.
Nowadays the new mount is dead again.

I've read all the gustave article, and i have seen that all the possible alternatives to the stock mounts have to be adapted by machining and so on.

So if someone knows some alternative direct-fit mount for M3 e30 i'll be glad to know.

I was looking at the 325ix ones that seem to have the concentric studs...

if i can't find nothing i'll be going back to stock mounts.

Merry Christmas and happy new s14year

Why don't you use the new Vorshlag mounts?

They have a couple of choices, including some full-on race mounts.

The motor mounts in our cars just plain suck.
They have always sucked (see the thread below with photos).
If I had not come up with my own solution a couple years ago (after replacing countless engine mounts) I would likely be using the new Vorslag mounts.
      They have some nice choices.

There are also the ones at AKG.

Although I have never bought anything from him, its only because I already made them all myself out of desperation over the years.
He has some great products for the E30 as well, they all just came too late for me.

Between these two companies,,, there are finally some good looking, much needed products out there for the E30.

I have the AKG mounts currently but also have the Vorshlag nylons ready to go in over the winter. The AKG stuff is top notch. In my other experiences with Vorshlag, so are they so I've no doubts about these mounts I'll be installing. Due to some other potential changes in the driveline I may end up going full on aluminum. Otherwise I'll upgrade to the Vorshlags. Now Vorshlag needs some matching nylon trans mounts...Terry, Brian? ; )

            Cheers.
