We drilled a new hole for the steering column. From memory it is already pre-marked from the factory. Removed steering column mount from LHS and re-welded it to RHS.

Identical for LHD and RHD iirc.

Not that I can think of. The wriing is a slow process but just make sure you do all joins well. Also test everything before refitting dash. Once the dash is on its a pain if something doesnt work.

Get a 323/325 front cut from a wreckers as that will give you all the parts needed such as front cross member and steering box etc.

Dont throw out any of the older M3 parts as they will sell on eBay etc when its all finished.
You'll also need to have door intrusion bars fitted.

Give me your email address and I will send you some photos that may help with some of my explainations.

............. and some exhaust headers to clear the steering column..... most important!!!!!!

Have a chat to ALS Performance in Rydalmere 96800773, talk to Andrew Schmitt or Ben. Zeus knows of his work. He did my conversion and several others. A very knowledgeable guy, he will definitely help you out. (he has a set of big ceramic coated headers ready to bolt on)

      Good luck,

      Aaron

You don't need new headers. You can cut the originals to fit easily.

Oh that would crush me. What inspired them to look at such an obscure car and make a law against it? Furthermore why did they come to the conclusion of banning the importation of them??

                        Hey Mariano,

Essentially the rule was introduced to help protect the local car market from cheap imports. eg. I can pick up a 2003 E46 M3 in the UK for around 16Kpounds ( roughly $38k Australian Peso's ). And yet over here the absolute cheapest one you'll find is around AUS$70K. You can imagine the interest there would be if you could import them, but the arse would fall out of the local market.

Unfortunately they never really took into consideration the very small volume, more unique and desirable cars like a Sport Evo. A BMW made after 31/12/1988 is now almost impossible to get into the country and get registered. There are very strict laws governing such things. Pretty much the only way to do it is to own it overseas for at least twelve months then bring it in as a personal import, but it will still cost an arm and a leg.

Very sad but at the same time, understandable

                        Cheers

All we need though is a Registered Automotive Workshop (RAW) happy enough to put their hands up to work on the E30 M3 and apply to have it listed under SEVS (Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles). But then I don't think anyone wants to ...

The M6 is still a LOOONNNGGGGGGG way off it is at paint in pieces at the moment half finished in Jet Black.. I get my E30 back today for 2 weeks of "wearing in": before it goes back to motec again for the final dyno so far have achieved 230hp at the rears but they have only rev'ed it to 6000rpm at the moment so chasing around 245 with a redline of 8300 ... I have almost forgotten what my car looks like

                                Mitch

ps. I have also talked fast fours and rotaries into doing a shoot of a big N/A build car (my E30) soon as i tidy up the engine bay .. I'll post when it is going to be in
