  • Henna Question

Does anyone know how many US Hennas came with Tan vs. Black interior?

    What is the general consensus?

Thanks in advance. Getting close to a purchase decision. . . .

I don't even think anyone knows how many henna cars there were period, let alone the various interior options. I'd love to know that information as well.

i had read in several places that there were 200 Hennas in the states
as it was the first half of the 88 model year
and due to lack of demand, was replaced with cinnabar i think
but never read about tan vs black
but i think black is definately more
most of the pics i see of henna have black
      including mine

Pick the best car! Hopefully it's the black.

The tan (or is it pearl) interior is the nicer example.

Given how often they come up for sale, I would venture to guess there are more than 200 around...probably closer to 500 would be my complete and utter guess.

That being said, I would go with the nicer car - although the black interiors can be brought back from the dead fairly easily.

                  well based on this
                  http://www.bimmers.com/m3/spotter/years.html

that 3000 (3095) cars were sold in the 88 model year
and henna was only available first half of model year
let's assume that first half was 1500 cars and second the same
and there were 4 colours in the first half of the year (white, silver, black, and henna)
lets assume they all sell the same around 400 each
if the henna had sold 500, like you guess, they would not have stopped it in mid year
it must have been selling a lot less than that to warrant changing colours in mid year.
so it might not be exactly 200 but i would guess between 200-300 only. because if it was more they would have kept it.
i would guess the split between tan/black interior is 30/70 in blacks favour
just based on all the henna's i've seen

if i had more time i could probably guess how many were sold each month
i am sure some months of the year sell more than others
i bet in winter, sales of high performance cars are not as high as summer

that's how i got a good deal on my Chrysler Crossfire convertible
i bought it on Feb 28th during a snowstorm
i got a godo price but must have looked like an idiot driving out of a dealer in snow with a rear wheel drive convertible

I'm doing the research on this and it is taking a while. Hopefully, I will have an answer tomorrow.
