  • Economy? Lots of M3's for sale

Maybe it's my imagination but it seem like a year ago the classifieds were full of WTB's, now, mostly FS's. $4 gasoline and declining portfolios taking their toll I guess, I hope they all go to good homes.

    That's one reason.
It could also be somefolks maybe taking advantage of the drop in vehicle prices (due to the economy) and moving up to say a Porsche GT3 as an example.

I'm sure some higher-end cars may be coming onto the market.

yeah noticed that also. Lots of FS this time around. $4 gas and summer right around the corner and mine might not be getting out much this year either :(

Well the E92 M3s are so new I doubt you'll find a good deal. The idea is that you get rid of your current vehicle to get into a vehicle you otherwise couldn't afford by taking advantage of the down turn in the economy.

why would anyone buy a new M3 when a lightly modded 135i will spank an M3?

I sat in an e92 today at the dealer while I was getting my wife's car serviced, a very impressive car no-doubt, also very-very large.
Turned out the service reminder in my wife's car was for a routine "scope", needed nothing...sure glad a drove a hundred miles for that. They did give us new wiper blades though. The oil has 16K on it but it says it has 7100 miles of life left....
Also, as I was checking out the e92 one of the salesmen was making small talk, I told him it was a heck of a lot different than my M3. He asked me what year mine was and I said "It's one of the original ones", he said he has one of the first M3's also, a 95 Dakar Yellow. Since I had the time I filled him in on how long the M3's have actually been in production. Oy.

I agree, between the 335i and 135i the E92 M3 is squeezing itself out. I hate to say this but with another 50HP the RWD system will no longer work... which means even worse MPG with 450HP and AWD.

I am not sure if that's it. I recall 3 years ago when I was buying mine there were lots of spring time cars for sale. Could be seasonal.

Might also be that a lot of owners are seeing a chance to sell for more money than they ever thought possible. Just look at Autotrader where now there are many $20K plus cars for sale when a couple of years ago that was unheard of.

Forgive me for being a dumb ass but what is a 135i ? Don't seem to know that car in the UK?
There is only one M3, the E30 M3

1 series car (smaller than a 3 series) but with the same turbocharged engine that's in the 335i.

I do not that people try to hold off on selling sports cars during the winter as it cuts down on buyers, so this could be a build up of that.

E92 m3 is no joke, it's way faster that any of these 135 and 335's will ever be.
