  • Squealing Noise?

When driven hard for a while as i start to cruise I notice a oscillating high pitched squeally noise.

    It's not road speed related
It's not directly engine speed related, but does alter if you rev it.
It's not the alt/ps belts as i've replaced them and it made no difference.

Annoyingly it stops once driven gently for a short time so i've never been able to have the bonnet up when it's been doing it!
If everything seems under control, then you're just not going fast enough...

Can you tell if it is coming from under the car? It may be the center bearing for the driveshaft.

No it doesn't stop when the car is stationary.

Sounds a bit like a dry bearing squeeking.

Can you tell if it is coming from the engine bay? If it is it could be an alternator, water pump, p/s bearing ect. Does it make the noise while depressing the clutch?

Yeah it's from the engine bay. I don't think the clutch makes a difference.

Are you sure that your belt pulleys are correctly lined up? Even 1 mm can make the noise from hell.
