Appears to be a regular Euro spec and not any special model. http://www.bimmers.com/m3/spotter/specials.html

What does the build date on the door jamb say?

The plate indicates it a Europameister No 24, but the VIN just doesn't seem to support that. The valve cover and intake plenum are Evo2 colors. Both the plate and the valve cover and plenum can be changed easily.

What a shame to see an Evo II in such average condition. Welcome to the site and now get stuck into bringing her back to her original glory...it'll be expensive but very well worth it.

                Cheers

ok. Many thanks for the information.
It has helped me much, but I only need knowledge that I number exactly of the 501 is made. On the other hand, somebody can explain the origin to me of this plate. There is some German version that can take it?. Thank you very much again to all.

No man, the plaque is from an Europameister! See the link you posted yourself and do a bit more research on BMW M Registry and you'll see there was a Europameister version. What to sell the Evo II?

There's a thread from a year back on the spanish forum regarding this plaque. Don't know if you have seen it yet.

                        http://www.m3e30.es/foro/viewtopic.p...=evoii&start=0

I do have a similiar plaque on mine (built Dez-87) but it's nº 48.

Still trying to find the origin of that plaque. I believe you may find some info rearding this plaque on the book 17.970 emotions. Haven't had the chance of looking it up yet, but I know there's a picture of similiar plaque on the book. Maybe someone who has the book could chime in.

The signatures on the plaque are from Altfrid Heger's and Winfried Vogt who competed together in a Liender car. Vogt won the ETCC in 1987

Here's Adwo's input at the time when I was looking for answers concerning this plaque.

Originally posted by Adwo View Post

                        Hmmm,

What does that tell us? I recognize Altfrid Heger's signature from the picture posted here.. He competed together with Winfried Vogt in a Linder car.

                        http://homepage.mac.com/frank_de_jon...87%20WTCC.html

However Ravaglia was the European Champion that year... That would make the other signature from Winni Vogt, it's not Ravaglia's as you can see in this Ravaglia/Cecotto that's now in Holland:

                        http://home.quicknet.nl/mw/prive/rvdbos/M3Rav_010.JPG

In this issue: http://www.motoyen.com/articles/80/1988/performancecar/ you can see the 'normal' Evo 2 plaque in the car. Not on the scans, but as I provided the scan to Motoyen I dug out the issue of Performance Car and had a look.

Options: the plaque was individually made and added to the car. Maybe, the car featured with the M Coupe is the same car offered for sale in this thread. That would mean the car featured is not a real Evo 2. Who can add to solve the mystery?

                        Don't you love the internet?
