I have original pain at the moment but doing a complete respray next year. Wont appease the purists, but then again, have a look at the motor.

After 20 years of hard wear and tear by owners who didn't care, the original paint is gone. Paint has come a long way over the last 20 years and a good respray will outlast any original paint if it's done correctly. I have to completely strip mine to bare metal due to the poor quaility of the stock paint. But, the respray will be done right with expoxy primer sealer, two coats of base, and two coats of clear. The only issue I have with resprays is if the base isn't prepared correctly. It won't last.Several E30 M3's.

Unless its a bubble car in pristine condition, I prefer a good respray over a dull, faded, lifeless OG paintjob. I'm sure a properly resprayed car will fetch more than original paint if faded, chipped, dull etc etc. JMHOComment

original paint vs. respray doesnt matter as far as its the original color, but thats just my opinion. I have seen lots of E30 M3 that have been resprayed a non stock color or a stock color from a different year and they look great, but I couldnt do it.Comment
