  • Evo II 264 Intake Cam Question

I was offered a new evo II 264 intake cam at a great price and I am trying decide if I should get it. What kind of performance improvement would I get? My motor is stock with an evo flywheel and a chip. Is there anything else I would have to upgrade to use this cam?

    TIA

These are getting rare, if you're getting a good deal its a definite OEM pick up... It's a direct swap in for @10whp no additional upgrades necessary just adjust your shims and rock 'n roll!
To maximize any gains from cams you should start looking for a piggyback ecu (alpha-n) or standalone (MAP or alpha-n).

get it... there's nothing else needed other than labor to install and for a valve adjustment to be done after the install. if you've got a good deal on it then all the better.. the BMW cams are holding value better than the aftermarket Schrick cams, so you could actually possibly make a few bucks if you ever switch to a Schrick. and of course you can always move the E2 cam over to the exhaust side if you go with a wilder intake cam.

I have one Evo III cam and it DOES have timing marks. the only way to tell besides measuring the lobes is to look at the part # on the flange that mounts to the cam gears. search "camshaft identification" and there should be some pics.

Neither the E2 or the E3 cam has EXHAUST timing marks. They both have INTAKE timing marks.

Have an Evo 2 cam in front of me. It reads 4194 and also has a C stamped on it. I measured 10.54 mm of lift.

Yeaup - That is true. Schrick cams have ZERO timing marks.
