If you will see the attachments when I first bought the car the previous owner had installed the instrument cluster from a E36 M3 (attach #1)

How did you get a dash with digital trip and mileage counter? Is that a euro option?

Is the 320kmh just a cover/facing on the cluster?
I would bet that is not original, nor correct for the E30 M3, and thusly when you are "seeing" a rate of 200kmh on your display, and your friend is only reading 140kmh, it is because the actual printed scale on your cluster is incorrect.

It appears to have been modified just to "look" faster...

A proper OEM kmh face plate would likely resolve all your issues, and would negate the need to buy yet another electronic module.

BMW sells the cluster complete and it costs a small fortune. Unfortunately our friends http://www.nhspeedometer.com/ are unable to help. I am still waiting from somebody in Germany. I will let you know how it will turn up.

Does anybody know if a coding plug from a 6 cylinder MotorMeter cluster works in a M3 (VDO) cluster?

Will the Dakota Digital SGI-8 device still work with a 325i coding plug in an M3 cluster(with a s52)? I dont have the original coding plug for M3.
