  • Driving lesson in an M3

My teenage son decided he'd try his hand at driving a standard-shift today (first time)...maybe the Evo II isn't the best starter rig...lightened flywheel and all. He gave up after a few minutes.
I learned to drive on a Ford Econoline with a 3-speed on the tree. If you can drive one of those, you're all set.

You are a braver man than I am. I remember learning on a 1978 Mercedes 300D. I think it did 0-60 in about 20 seconds.

The Econoline would do 0-60, if you dared.

LOL! My youngest son learned in my '76 2002! He can still drive stick better than most men his age! Learning in an E30 M3?...you are indeed a very courageous father! BTW, I learned to drive in my '55 Chevy that my Dad bought for me for $300 in 1964...I was 14!

All you have to do in let out the clutch and you going in that one.

-I learned in Alfa GTV on my dads lap. He got scared and our feet fot stuck in the pedals and in went stright into a fence as fast as i could in reverse.

But the first time I ever drove on the street was in E9 CS with a big six from a E12 530 and two baby turbos. -I was 14 and drove it from Santa Rosa to San Rafeal CA. Long story.

Now Im teaching a ten year old how to drive. I started her with a old Hummer H1 in reverse. Once she can back up without hitting any cones, Im going to have her do it with a car trailer.... This will be fun to watch

Attempted to learn on an Integra GSX which didn't turn out that well.

Really started to learn on an Alfa Romeo Spyder and an E30. My E30 M3 was my
first stick car that I owned.

I barely learned to drive a stick in my buddies Fiat 128 when I was 15. When I was 16, my parents took me to Spain and they rented a car. All the cars for rent were sticks, so they had me drive the whole time.

I still am not brave enough to teach my kids in the M3.

My dad took me out on my 15th birthday to learn to drive stick on his 1975 2002 which became my car in high school. Not fun memories but I'm glad I learned. My cousin bought a Camaro SS with a 6 speed without knowing how to drive it. To make it worse, it had the Skip Shift feature that made it more frustrating. He sold the car after a couple months.

I learned to drive in various cars.
?? Opel record coupe. column shift.
                              '72 Opel Commodore GS
'73 Honda civic 1500. What a slow piece of crap.
?? Peugeot 504 . This was an automatic with console selector. I had trouble with this one. I put the selector in position '1' but the stick never moved to '2' or DRive by itself. Got bored with that.
?? Volvo 240. did not like this one.
