With the originators having such a great idea, I really believe they will do what is best in the end. I am picking up a vibe that I want to nip in the bud (although it may be imagined, so forgive me if so)
Each venue has its strengths and weaknesses....
Let's all now agree to play nice after the OPs/Meeting sculptors make a choice.
Thereafter they will *still* be bustin their arses to make this happen, for all of our fun.
At the end of the day, it's gonna be awesome no matter where we meet because of the organizational effort and our common passion for these pieces of metal and oil.
That said, should we just meet at a Chuck E Cheese (j/k)?

we all have a common goal: to reach out to the E30 M3 community and celebrate a
significant number. Our work has only just begun as the real leg work will soon kick in,
which we clearly are aware of and are up to the undertaking. If we were not so
passionate about this event, we would have never posted this.
Considering we might get rowdy at Chuck E Cheese and someone will be bound to start
a fight with a kid about who has more tickets, maybe some Dave & Busters and a visit
to Hooters for....on second thought let's stick to the original game plan.:gotcha:

Will & Nick,
I hope you both know that those of us offering opinions and suggestions are doing just that, as you originally posted. You asked for input and ideas. You aren't always going to get all positive comments about a particular venue or region to hold an event, and that's due to "experience" of those of us who know the various areas.
I hope my input discouraging South Jersey (due to traffic and cost) wasn't taken as a slam against your efforts, because that wasn't how it was intended...I was merely following up on someone else's comment who had similar experiences driving in that area.
If you look back through the posts, I believe I may have been the first person to post looking into other sites, including NJMP. So, I can certainly keep an open mind regardless of where the event is held.
But, having organized events in the past myself, I know that location and ease of access and driving to and from the event are extremely important, not just the event site itself (once you get there). Even the SIG Fest site last August in NJ, while being a great location, was not without travel problems - getting to the site was aweful, since local roadwork had completely shut down the roadway leading to the event site. Many of us were lost for quite sometime figuring out how the heck to get to SIG Fest! That was not the event organizers fault...just dumb luck, but hey, it's NJ...what else can I say?
I love Lime Rock, but it's not central, and accommodations aren't plentiful. Although it's a great place to stay in an Inn or a B&B when the wife comes along. It doesn't get any better. But, back to Pocono vs. NJMP.
You guys have the advantage of having visited both Pocono and NJMP, so you certainly have the best viewpoint and "feel" of each facility as compared to one another, assuming you aren't looking anywhere else.
I'm sure everyone on here trusts your judgement, and my offer still stands to assist you guys in any way that I can.
Continued best wishes in your efforts,
John

Everyones thoughts and opinions are very important and we welcome the feedback and all of the advice. By all means, your input was fine and not offensive whatsoever. This is an opportunity for everyone to open up and address their concerns. This will just make this event even stronger.
Once a location has been locked (approx. 1 week) and the website is completed (approx 4 weeks) everyone will understand the how items were chosen and how decisions were made. Trusting our judgement means everything and everyone will know why they did once they see the schedule of events.
We have traveled 600+ miles to find the place that is right for us. For example, a place that will accomodate us with indoor garages and parking for all of our cars incase it rains, a place that we can have the track for the whole day to do what we please with it. Morning and afternoon buffets all catered, beautiful 1 story rooms with exceptional parking. I can go on and on. At the end of the day there wasn't more than one facility than can offer the above. The best part of it all, it was financially sound. I hope that you can all see by the little that I mentioned how we have approached this event. Though it is early yet, you guys are in for one heck of an anniversary!Last edited by nickn3; 11-07-2010, 02:45 AM.

John, we did not take your suggestion or anyone else's in a negative tone. We posted
this on the forum so we could get different opinions on what to do and look out for.
Everyones' opinion does count and will ultimately have some kind of influence on the
final outcome. Those who have offered to help with the event, we will definitely call
upon your services as no single event can be handled by just a few people.
AJ, thank you of the suggestions so far, and the offer to donate. As Nick has stated
before, we are going to keep the cost down as much as possible and the final cost
to each person will be reasonable. Speaking with the guys, we wouldn't mind coming
out of pocket to make this a memorable event for everyone.
Just so everyone knows, it is not just Nick and I putting together this event, there are
others that are behind the scenes working on making this happen. Just wanted to give
the recognition people deserve.

Any thoughts about combining this with Sigfest? I may be into driving out there, my daughter, son-in-law and grandson are in New Brunswick. Not sure which car to bring. Plan to do restoration on my daily driver..... I'll have to get my Pennsylvania Zinno back together........ Hmmmmm....Several E30 M3's.
More than I need but not as many as I want....

inastrangeland, SigFest is in August, we looking to hold this anniversary event in June because of the availability of track rental, facility, and also the cooler weather compared to the hot august. Also, we thought that having our event in June would allow for individuals to plan according to attend both the Anniversary event and SigFest. [peace]
