  • Building a Gr.A Replica

    Hi guys!

well, at last, i´ve nearly finished this 5 year project!

Project started since i crashed, and front part was a mess. I ended up buying a e30 front from the junkyard, and tack welded to the M3 body. It ended unnoticeable.

The engine belonged to a rally car owned by Jose Maria Ponce in Spain, he was champion lots of times, and a guy here in peru bought that car, but sadly, he crashed and now rests in peace. I managed to get that engine, and of course, rebuild it with the same motorsport parts.

All the electronics was done by myself, pretty tough job, had to make a new fuse box, and install the Haltech ecu. The cage job was done by an expert in this area, with loads of M3 pics to replicate the cage, but still meeting the peruvian racing rules. He also did every mod, like welding the weak spots of the chassis, suspension, brake mods, seat supports, etc, etc.

Front brakes are from lee @ massive. 6 Pot willwood calipers, very good stuff, rear brakes are OEM. Wheels were made in Spain, so this brakes could fit, the company is called Braid, and they make wheels for rally and circuit scenarios.

    Installing Aerocatch Pins!

    Excellent Product

    Rear Already Polished

Front Ready (The Red Thing Is A Sticker ) Brake cooling ducts!

Engine Porn (The Real Oil Pan Was Totaled, So I Put an OEM One)

I Should Have Taken a Pic of the intake of this cylinder head, it was a LOT bigger compared with the standard one.

    Check out the blue crankshaft

    90% Ready

    Lumpy Camshaft

    Trigger Wheel for Haltech ECU

Mono wiper conversion, for those who want to make one, take a look at that design, it also allows to put a battery kill switch like the DTM cars on the drivers side linkage.

Painting the stripes.. at first, i made the stripes from vinyl, but the sun messed up the work, and i decided to go for paint.. like the real racing car.

Nice part! check out the Oil Catch.. i managed to buy the e28 reservoir tank, and installed the fittings... also made the outlet from the valve cover to aeroquip style, it was hard to get all parts, but i really wanted to copy the original dtm car.

    VAC Fuel pressure regulator

One Belt pulley, and big alternator pullet, dtm style

What prompted the change from an X across the driver door to the NASCAR style bars?

Spray paint and tire shine doesn't equate to a "restoration!"

Well, that is a must here for racing circuit, i first made it x , and then the rules changed, you must be 40 cms from the center of the seat to the bar, this made me clean the doors, and remove the glass and trim!! I wanted to keep those, to be similar to the original car, but, what can i do??

                  Thanks for watching!
