anybody seen these on our cars before.
ive got a set on mine but not heard of them before. wondering if anybody could shed some light on them

I didn't know Koni made springs. I have a set of green Racing Dynamics springs on my car. I think Suspension Techniques also has green springs.

Take a pic of the springs and lets see what the peanut gallery has to say.

I got koni springs on the rear and they are green. Been on the car since I bought it. Had never seen or heard of them before that.

Those are Koni springs indeed. I have them on my track 320is together with Koni SA's shock absorbers (8641-1021 Sport SP20 at the front and 8040-1042SP20 at the rear). They rear ones are denoted 2220-1049. They lower an M3 approx 20-25mm and are not much different from any other street lowering spring when it comes to stiffness i.e. very close to OEM spring stiffness. HTH

ok thanks thats good to know, had a horrible paranoid feeling my car was running springs from another type of car or something. Only one thing, that picture im sure was from the front arch!

Well, what do you know. I just replaced my green springs that I thought were Racing dynamics springs and the part #s are 2220-1048 for the fronts and 2220-1049 for the rears. I guess they are Koni springs after all. That said, they were a disaster with TC-Klein re-valved Koni Sports. They bottomed out the front end over pretty much everything, and ultimately cracked the centers out of my front spring hats.:shit: (For now they have a set of big washers around the cracked centers, new hats are on order and will be replaced asap.)
These springs might be ok with Bilstein sport shocks and struts, but they are too soft for use with Konis unless you like bottoming the suspension over anything larger than an inch tall. These are totally wrong for any sort of spirited or competitive driving. You will break stuff with them.

H&R Race springs are far better.

I have a full set of Koni Greens sitting on shelves that I took off of my car. My car also had Koni shocks/struts but I am not sure on the specs/valving. They were pretty well end of life by the time I got the car. I'd assume the springs matched with a proper set of konis would have been a fine setup when new.

I disagree with the statement that they don't work for spirited driving or track days and that you will end up braking things. Racing is another thing.

I had these spring on my car for about 8 years and 80000 km combined with Bilstein Sprint (=Sport in US). I've newer had any trouble with bottoming out the suspension, neither on tracks in Sweden, Norway or the famous, not smooth, Nürburgring.
On track I've been driving on mostly on R-compound.

On the other hand Konis are sort of known for their relative low compression damping. It is not known which valving the Konis they were sold with had. (My springs came from a wrecked Cecotto with Konis.)

As for the spring rate of these. I did some simple measurement of the spring rate some years ago and the values I got was slightly above H&R sports.

anybody know the amount these springs would drop a car compared to standard or the hr springs. my car seems to sit as high a standard car.

The set of H&R race springs I just installed actually raised my car over these springs.

They might be ok with a set of Bilsteins, but not with Konis, not enough spring rate to keep it from bottoming over everything.
